From Molecules to Meridians

When I first stepped into acupuncture school, I carried with me a degree in biochemistry and a deeply Western way of thinking. To me, medicine meant lab reports, molecules, and the concrete language of clinical trials. Suddenly, I found myself in a classroom learning about Qi, Yin and Yang, and energy pathways called meridians.

Honestly? It felt like learning medicine in another language,  because it was.

But the deeper I went, the more I realized something important: Eastern and Western medicine aren’t opposites. They’re complementary.

A Wider Lens

TCM didn’t replace my scientific training, it expanded it. Western medicine gave me an understanding of molecules, cells, and organs. Chinese medicine added a broader perspective, teaching me to see the human being as more than just a body, and the body as more than a sum of parts. It showed me how to notice imbalances on the energetic and emotional level before they manifest physically.

What You’ll Find Here

Some posts focus on the practical side of TCM, simple tools you can use for everyday health. Others are reflections on how ancient ideas reshaped the way I think about healing, balance, and life itself.

For me, health is the foundation of happiness. When body, mind, and soul are aligned, energy and emotions flow smoothly, happy hormones balance stress hormones, inflammation calms, and every cell begins to glow with vitality. That’s when we can truly thrive.

My hope is that you’ll find something here that helps you too, whether it’s easing menopause symptoms, finding peace through meditation, or simply surviving your kid’s teenage years without losing your mind.

This Health & Science page is one piece of a bigger whole:

  • Soul & Self → where I explore what it means to live as a soul in a body, with a mind as our navigation tool.
  • Misadventures → where the chaos of parenting, culture, and everyday life unfolds.

Together, they form my compass: finding balance in this messy, beautiful world.
