Introduction
Throughout history, humanity has been in pursuit of knowledge. We have even named our species homo sapiens—the knowledgeable, wise man. Knowledge drives progress and has provided us with many benefits. We have extended our life expectancy, eradicated certain diseases, and created many comforts through brilliant scientific and technological inventions. However, we have not always put our knowledge to good use, unfortunately. Even though we have made incredible discoveries, we have also destroyed our environment and created devastating health problems for ourselves and our children.
A closer look at children’s health
Did you know today’s generation of children is the first in history to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents, despite the advancement of modern medicine? Chronic diseases are on the rise, and the health statistics our children are facing are alarming. However, the good news is, only about 25–30 percent of a person’s health is due to genetics, and around 70–75 percent is affected by environmental factors such as diet, exposure to toxins, and lifestyle.
Why is that such good news? Because it means that much of our children’s health lies within our control. Yes! We can improve our children’s health and change their future accordingly. We simply need to educate ourselves about what’s happening, how and why it’s happening and then take action.
Let us take a closer look at why you will want to change what you feed your children for the rest of their lives, not just physically, but mentally, and spiritually. This is about holistic nourishment, which is more than food; it is the total nutrition of your child’s body, mind, and soul.
This is an absolutely brilliant book. It places before us all that we need to know in order to raise healthier children, and to even become healthier ourselves.
– Neale Donald Walsch, international bestseller of Conversations with God
